Trigg & Gusset

Trigg & Gusset are producer Bart Knol and woodwind specialist Erik van Geer. Their common passion for slow jazz, atmospheric electronics and tense grooves resulted in 2013 in their debut-album ‘Legacy of the Witty’.

The Way In

Dutch jazz renegades Trigg & Gusset, notorious for their musical ingenuity as well as their mature production style, are now back in 2020 with their third album The Way In. This follow up to their internationally acclaimed Adagio For The Blue features eight soundly composed and tightly produced tracks. While staying inside the domain of instrumental jazz, Trigg & Gusset manage to constantly maintain a tight embrace with the world of electronica. Gusset’s powerful woodwind performance combines magically well with the composition and production skills of the studio veteran Trigg, allowing them with each release to create an ever more a unique blend of styles that can only be said to be in a league of its own.

Adagio For The Blue

After a short European tour Trigg and Gusset decided to create a successor to ‘Legacy of the Witty’, entitled ‘Adagio for the Blue’. The second album sows on the thread of the first, with more accent on composition. Voiced themes supported by layered chords alternated with improvised solos. The musical duo is assisted by several guest musicians, including trumpeter Coen Hamelink, flamenco-guitarist Midas Ghijsels and double bass players Just Lavooy and Dominique Bentvelsen.

Legacy of the Witty

Starting out with just a couple of musical ideas and the idea that the world could use more dark jazz, Dutch duo Trigg & Gusset combine cinematic eerie synth pads with very slow grooves and lush melodies. This can be clearly heard on their debut album "Legacy of the Witty". “We wanted to make music where electronics and acoustic instruments work together, taking an equal share in the sound,” says Bart Knol (keys). “This helped us develop the typical sound of Trigg & Gusset.”
