Iannis Xenakis was a Greek composer and one of the most important modernist composers of the 20th century. He was a major figure in the postwar development of musical modernism. He died in 2001. Although his music is very mathematical, Xenakis did not want the listener to be aware of the forms and theories used to produce his compositions.
